Civil war veteran, philosopher, storyteller, and a man of the street... literally. Gangrene from cannon shrapnel had taken his legs, and three years in some of the bloodiest battles this country has ever seen had taken its toll on his mind. Yet every Sunday after church, the children of this small town would part company with their families, sneak off, and gather in Jeb's alley.
